Our Aim

To assist in the development of children's minds,
spirits and bodies as they grow into active citizens of the future.

Through our carefully planned curriculum, children at YIK learn through their surroundings,
by feeling and exploring. We follow the Christian faith and place emphasis on giving rather
than receiving and believing rather than doubting.
These steps along with the four pillars of the YMCA,
Caring, Responsibility, Respect and Honesty,
provide a very strong base to support our unique curriculum.

A home away from home

We are proud to provide a “home away from home”
for our students. The design of the
kindergarten and the choice of solid wood and natural materials allow children to relax
and enjoy their surroundings as they are learning.

英語圏の幼稚園と同様に、日々の生活の中で常に英語に触れ、
自然に英語を使う環境で生きた英語を学びます。
いろいろな文化を楽しむ中で豊かな国際感覚が育ちます。

Our worldwide bank of teachers

The YMCA has a global network through which we are able to recruit teachers from all
over the world. In addition to expertise in the classroom, our teachers bring with them a
gift in their customs and traditions from a variety of cultures.

Stimulating monthly themes

The children learn and explore through age-appropriate themes that change monthly.
Starting with the theme board on the classroom wall, themes extend into learning centre,
circle time, story time and field trips.

毎月のテーマは子どもたちの好奇心を刺激します

年齢に合わせた興味深いテーマを毎月設定し、五感を使うカリキュラム。
教室のテーマボードやLearning center、Field trip（お出かけ）、Story time、
Circle timeなどのカリキュラムは、このテーマにそって工夫されています。

Individual care and specialized teachers

There are two experienced classroom teachers in each class: an English teacher and a
licensed Japanese kindergarten teacher.
Manageable class sizes are maintained in order to
provide each child with individual care and attention.
Art, swimming, gymnastics and music classes are all taught by teachers who are
specialists in their field.

複数担任制＋専門講師

外国人講師・日本人保育士の複数担任制で、きめ細かく一人ひとりに対応します。
また、スイミング、体操、アート＆クラフト、総合音楽では、幼児指導の経験がある
専門講師による、体系的かつ効果的な指導を受けます。

Zoo-phonics

YIK is licensed to teach Zoo-phonics. Starting in pre-school YIK students all receive the
lasting benefits of learning English through Zoo-phonics, an internationally recognized,
phonics-based language arts programme.

ズーフォニックス

YIKはZoo-phonicsの正式なトレーニングを受けた
広島で唯一の認定校です。
段階的に年齢にあったズーフォニックス・カリキュラムで
「聞く」「話す」「読む」「書く」をバランスよく習得します。

The House System

Every child belongs to one of four “houses”: red, blue, green or yellow. Throughout the
year, members of the houses get together for lunch, birthday celebrations and other
special occasions. The houses are like big families. The older children take care of the
younger ones who in turn learn from them. Children also gather together in their houses
on special event days like sports day and the family picnic to enjoy a little friendly
competition and an extra feeling of belonging.

ハウスプログラム（縦割りグループ）

ハウス・デイ（縦割りグループで過ごす日）には、ハウス毎に
ランチをとったり、外遊びを一緒に楽しんだり、お誕生日の
お祝いをしたり・・・。ハウスのメンバーはYIKにおける家族です。
年上の子どもが、年下の子どもに思いやりを持って接し、
年下の子どもは年上の子どもの真似をし、憧れと尊敬の心を持つ。
異年齢での活動は、そんないろいろな気持ちを育みます。
