Zoo-phonics is a part of daily life at YIK.
Zoo-phonics is a phonics-based language arts
programme that was developed in California
and is now used in over 6,000 kindergartens
and elementary schools worldwide.
The entire programme is based on learning and combining 26 animal characters, which represent
the letters of the English alphabet to form words.
Each animal has a name, a body signal and a sound
which makes learning and remembering easier
and more natural for children.
Zoo-phonics begins in Pre-school with soft toys, songs and games
and continues right through graduation and onto the Owl Academy. Correct sounds and the fundamentals of the English Language are
taught in a systematic, step-by-step way that has become
the cornerstone of English language-learning at YIK.
Zoo-phonics has proven to be highly effective and the children
love it!! Original stories and songs add to the fun of learning to speak,
spell and eventually to read and write English.
