Our YIK Gym curriculum, “The AZ Method,” was designed specifically for our students by our trained and experienced gym instructor, Azusa Sakamoto. The goal of our programme is to teach the children the “A to Z's” of physical fitness and coordination, whilst having fun and keeping fit. All exercises and activities support the development of strength, balance, body control and motor skills. Throughout the year, the children learn a variety of skills through games, obstacle courses and gym play i.e. touch & run, stretch routines, bar exercises, hoop play, balance routines, vault horse, gym mat exercises, and gym apparatus play. Our Gym curriculum is tailored to the ages and needs of YIK students and thus, by the end of YIK, the skills that the children have learned will allow for easy transitions to local Elementary school gym curriculums.
