I graduated in 1977 from the YMCA College in Chicago and came to Japan that year as an international director. I've had the pleasure of working at YMCAs in Kumamoto, Nagasaki, Hiroshima and now Fukuyama. I love the YMCA Global Community and our community at the Fukuyama YMCA is wonderful to be a part of now. I welcome one and all to join our Fukuyama YMCA Community where we have so much to offer you, and I really look forward to the chance of meeting and getting to know you.
Hello everyone, my name is Glenn. I’m from the United States and grew up near the rainy city of Seattle, Washington (Go Ichiro!). However, my family now lives in sunny Hawaii. I have been in Japan for quite some time working with children, youth and adults at the Higashi-Hiroshima YMCA and at the Hatchobori YMCA in Hiroshima City. I’ve come to love natto, the changes in Japan’s beautiful seasons, and most importantly, the Japanese people and communities I have come to know. I’m excited about my work at the Fukuyama YMCA & hope to continue to contribute to its growing family.
I love my work very much. I feel glad teaching my students English. I love traveling and painting, too. Whenever I go out, I have my sketchbook with me. I have taken my students to 20 states in the U.S. Have fun learning English!

I've taught at the YMCA for nine years, playing many different games, singing many kinds of songs, and doing other activities with the students. To keep the classes interesting for my students, I'm always trying to learn new games, even modifying when necessary.
Before I came to the YMCA, I was traveling around the world as a tour conductor. My favorite cities are Prague and New York. English takes you to the world. Follow your dreams and never give up!

I really like to study foreign languages and communicate with foreign friends very much. I was a member of the hot-air balloon club when I was in college. I have flown in a hot air balloon in several areas around Japan. I enjoy meeting people from all over the world who come to participate in the big International Balloon Festival which is held in November every year, in Saga, Japan. I made many foreign friends through the festival and went to see them in China and Ukraine. English expands your world! Let’s make friends all over the world !
英語をはじめ、中国語など外国語を勉強すること、そして学んだ外国語を通して外国の友達とコミュニケーションするのが好きです。大学では言語学を勉強していました。大学生のときに熱気球に出会い、中国地方を始め、北海道、渡良瀬、九州など全国いろいろな場所で空を飛びました。なかでも毎年11月に佐賀で開かれる国際バルーンフェスティバルは、日本で一番大きな大会で、アメリカ、アジア、ヨーロッパの国々からも多くのチームが参加します。私はこの大会で、中国チーム、ウクライナチームのメンバーと友達になり、そのメンバーに会いに中国とウクライナに行きました。英語が話せれば、本当に世界が広がります！世界中に友達を作りましょう！
Hi, my name is Scott Kilmartin. I'm from the UK and have been in Japan since 2005. Being from the UK I'm naturally a big football (soccer for the North Americans out there) fan. I play regularly and love watching games on TV. Apart from football I also enjoy reading and spending time with my family.

はじめまして、在日韓国人の3世です。1989年から6年間ソウルに住んでいました。韓国は日本から一番近い国であり、文化や風習も共通点がたくさんあります。また言語も日本語と大変似通った点があり、日本の方が学ぶには一番簡単な言語と言えるでしょう。大好きな”あの人”が出演しているドラマを字幕なしで、また大好きな”あの人達”が歌っている歌を原語のまま聞きとれるようになる日を夢見て、一緒に勉強しましょう。

Hello, my name is Manuel Dillinger. I grew up in Schönbrunn am Lusen, a small village in the middle of the Bavarian forest and now live in the beautiful town of Onomichi. I work in Japan as a freelance translator and German teacher, and I live in a Buddhist temple, where I can experience an interesting side of Japan many others will never have a chance to see. I love this region, because it's never really cold and I can wear light clothes from February to November, which would be unthinkable in Germany.

Ich arbeite in Japan als freiberuflicher Ubersetzer und Deutschlehrer, und ich wohne in einem buddhistischen Tempel, wo ich eine Seite Japans erleben kann, die vielen anderen verborgen bleibt. Ich liebe diese Region, weil es hier nie richtig kalt wird und ich von Februar bis November kurze Kleidung tragen kann, was in Deutschland unvorstellbar ist.
